The Facts About Electrolysis
UNWANTED HAIR - THE PROBLEM
Whether prompted by health concerns or the understandable desire to look better, the removal of unwanted hair happens every day, on men and women. This demand for permanent hair removal has inspired the development of numerous "perfect" methods. Only one has proven to be permanent while at the same time offering the multiple rewards of treatment that is safe, relatively painless and cost-effective. This method is called ELECTROLYSIS.
UNWANTED HAIR - THE CAUSES
Unwanted hair can be caused by a number of factors ranging from normal physiological changes, heredity, diseases and even simple stress. The only way to be certain of the nature of your particular case is to seek out the advice of a true health care professional.
All well-trained electrologists are taught to recognize the above mentioned symptoms, some of which may necessitate referral to a physician, others which can be alleviated by an electrologist.
UNWANTED HAIR - THE SOLUTION
Whether your problem is unwanted hair on your lips, chin and cheeks, unwanted hair on your arms or your underarms, unwanted hair on your legs and thighs, unwanted hair on your breasts, abdomen and back, ELECTROLYSIS REMAINS THE ONLY SAFE, PERMANENT WAY TO REMOVE THAT UNWANTED HAIR. Electrolysis can give you clear, hair-free skin in all these areas as well as a more attractive hairline and neckline. Electrolysis is the ideal alternative for men and women to whom unwanted hair is a problem that must be solved.
I have the following "Question and Answer" section to help give a better understanding and to learn more about ELECTROLYSIS, the only permanent method of hair removal.Q. How long has electrolysis been around?
A. True electrolysis dates back to 1875. The first method of permanent hair removal was invented by Dr. Charles Michel in St. Louis, Mo.
Q. How does electrolysis remove hair?
A. Basically, the electrologist directs a tiny, split-second impulse into the hair root to try and destroy it. Several treatments may be required, depending on the coarseness and strength of the hair.
Q. What parts of the body can benefit from electrolysis?
A. Every part of the body except inside the nose and ears. In fact, electrolysis is so cost-effective a procedure, that relatively large areas of the body, such as areas of the back, arms and legs, may be treated within limits of time and budget.
Q. Are needles used in electrolysis?
A. No, a very special type of pre-sterilized disposable probe, developed specifically for electrolysis is used. There is no sharp piercing tip.
Q. Is electrolysis painful?
A. At most, you will feel a warm and then tingling sensation. You can hardly tell the probe tip is being inserted and the skin is not punctured or damaged in any way. The tiny current destroys the hair root. Prescription creams are available and will provide virtually no sensation at all. Most people find tweezing and waxing to cause more discomfort than electrolysis treatments.
Q. Is electrolysis really permanent?
A. Yes. Foremost medical authorities and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) agree and recognize that electrolysis is the only positive and permanent way to remove hair.
Q. What causes the growth of extra hair?
A. Many factors may be responsible. Among them: Hormonal/glandular imbalances, hereditary, excessive use of temporary methods, medication, illnesses, operations, pregnancy, and menopause.
Q. Can I just use depilatories to get rid of hair?
A. Yes, but this is only a temporary method. As with waxing, and the use of razors and tweezers, hair grows back quickly. Bleach and depilatories take time to use and are a continuous expense.
Q. What if hair seems to return while I'm being treated?
A. Your own previous attempts to remove hair may be the reason for this, as hair usually takes one to fourteen weeks to regrow. The growth may be hair that had not yet appeared when you started treatment. But electrolysis will remove it. Permanently!!! Also, a hair that has been waxed or tweezed may not have a straight growth down to the root. Several treatments may be necessary to successfully destroy a distorted root.
Q. What can I do about heavy growth of hair between treatments?
A. If you are unable to see me, or have not yet scheduled for an appointment, you can safely cut hairs in or near the area being treated. But leave enough hair for me to treat and remove your unwanted hairs. Do not tweeze, wax, shave, use depilatories or bleach in between treatments.
Q. Can I have all my hairs removed at one time?
A. This will vary from person to person and depends on individual growths. Factors such as the extent of the growth, area to be treated, age of the person, and any previous temporary methods that may have been used are important. If they are heavy, I will probably recommend a series of treatments. In the beginning, most people will need weekly treatments that will soon become monthly as progress is made. Treatments on a regular basis are necessary for permanent results!!!Q. How about healing?
A. Healing after electrolysis is generally rapid, with no signs of the treatment remaining on your skin. Occasionally, you may have temporary redness, but it will quickly disappear with your own after-treatment, as per my directions.
Q. What is the right age for electrolysis?
A. Any age is right. Of course I recommend that in the cases of pre-teens and individuals over 65, a physician should be consulted before treatment begins.
Q. Is electrolysis expensive?
A. As compared with many other beauty treatments, the cost is moderate. It's a small price to pay for a lifetime of freedom from unwanted hair. Don't you think you owe it to yourself to look into electrolysis now?
Q. Is electrolysis sought by, and effective on, both genders?
A. Electrolysis treatments are equally effective on men and women. For as long as electrolysis records have been kept, men as well as women have sought out the services of professional electrologists.
Q. Are electrologists given special training to deal with men?
A. Very little "special" training is necessary. Hairs grow in the same manner regardless of gender. Any man considering electrolysis should feel secure in the knowledge that he will be treated with the same skills and sensitivity offered to any woman.
Q. Recently I have read about "alternative" hair removal machines and methods. Are they safe? Are they effective?
A. Electrolysis is the only PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL METHOD available today. Beware the clever claims of would-be competitors.
Q. How about inexpensive home machines sold in major department stores and through the mail?
A. Quite simply, they afford temporary, usually painful, costly and ultimately ineffective hair removal. There is no comparison to electrolysis as performed by a highly trained electrologist.
